When the door flung open you nearly fell backwards on your butt, but what could have been so important, you just hoped that nothing bad had happened. What if it was some kind of emergency? The look on Arthur’s face said otherwise.

“We think we have it, get the other three and bring them up here! They’ll be human sized again in only a few minutes!” Lukas had a slight grin on his face as well, he must have been proud and maybe a bit excited, but it was hard to tell. You set Emil down next to Lukas.

“That’s wonderful! I’ll go get them, they’ll be so happy to hear it!” You couldn’t help but smile at the idea of them being normal again. You had built up excitement over the idea, but probably not as much as they have, they had been waiting for a miracle like this for so long. If it didn’t work- the thought made you stop out of sight of either group at a half way point… if it didn’t work… they would be crushed. All the hope they had set that this spell would work and that they could live their lives again would go out the window. What would happen to them? Would they be the same? Or would they get depressed and sad? You had been with them and grown to see them all as your friends, so to imagine their hopes being given up like this hurt you deeply.

The thought of the look on Tino’s face and Matthias’ would be the two more obvious ones, while the other three might try and hide it a bit more, but how much can you hide disappointment like that? Even Lukas had looked smug and so proud of all the work he had put into this spell to try and transform them back to how they use to be. If you went in there and told them that they had the spell ready to go and even Berwald looked happy like Lukas and Emil did- to some extent- you could only imagine the devastation they would feel. You knew that to try and find a way to change them back they had to take risk and be ready for disappointment, but what if all the disappointment just destroyed them. They had been waiting for a chance for years most likely and now they were so close and it would be so easy for fate’s cruel hands to rip away everything from them once again. They already had their former lives taken, the people they loved, any relationship they may have had done for after so long, any of their family probably lost hope in finding them, and now with this new chance could restate all of that. It could take it away from them all over again. It was pessimistic to think like this, but it wasn’t like it wasn’t a possibility. To go in there and do the spell just to see that nothing happened, all that effort and excitement was for nothing. To think even more negatively, what if something went terribly wrong and they all got hurt or changed into something else without a reversal in sight. Thinking all this realizing all the possibilities in which that they could all get hurt tremendously, you didn’t even want to go into the kitchen or back to the attic. You didn’t want the tell the other three and you didn’t want them all to try it. However maybe you had your own reasons for not wanting them to do this, maybe it wasn’t just about them getting hurt that scared you…

What would happen if it worked? You had never thought about it… but when they got to be human again they wouldn’t need you anymore, they could leave you. Honestly you had been lonely even with Alfred and Arthur and all of your friends, but with them there and living with you made you feel happy and wanted. Maybe you were just trying to be selfish and that was why all these bad outcomes came to mind, because you didn’t want to risk them being changed back and have to watch them leave. They wouldn’t need anything from you anymore, the only reason they needed you now was because they were dolls they couldn’t shop or anything for food, they couldn’t cook because they could get burned if they could manage to pick up the pots, pans, or ingredients. Even if they still wanted to be your friend, it wouldn’t be the same not hearing them argue and just having them live at your house. It was selfish, but just thinking about it made you feel like there was a pit in your heart. Could you really keep them from this chance though for your own selfish reasons? Could you really be that cruel to them, but even if you could one of the other three would tell them if you didn’t. You might as well tell them before they started to think poorly of you or the other three started to worry about where you were at. Arthur seemed excited too that he got a chance for a big spell like this.

You tried to move with the same excitement that you had earlier, but you couldn’t seem to move that way and slowed down a little bit, before peeking your head into the kitchen you painted a smile on your face. It wasn’t that odd of a thing to do, it wasn’t the first time you ever had to. Everyone has low times and you weren’t any exception, but you had mainly male friends so you didn’t want to be seen as the weak link by being emotional or whiny. You had listened to Alfred and the others complain about girls who were like that, so you never wanted them to leave you because you did anything like that. So whenever you were low or something was bothering you, you had gotten a habit of keeping things to yourself. Not a great habit, but it wasn’t anything you were in a rush to break.

“Hey guys, guess what?” You entering the room had caught their attention enough and Matthias seemed confused while Tino looked like he was plenty happy and was still giggling about something. Berwald was just sitting there not doing anything; you decided to leave it alone for now.

“What? Please just any other kind of conversation before my head explodes.” You saw Berwald move slightly out of the corner of your eye before Tino started giggling again and laughing. You didn’t know what was going on but it might just be best if you didn’t ask anything about it, but from what you gathered Tino had kind of a dorky sense of humor and Berwald didn’t seem to have any kind of humor. So it must have been an inside joke or something like that. Matthias seemed desperate to get away from something, he looked so lost and confused it almost made you laugh, but earlier worries still were plaguing your mind too much to make you actually happy about anything. That was probably why you didn’t care to know why Tino was in hysterics and Matthias was confused while Berwald just sat there.

“No you guys have to guess or else it’s no fun to just sit here and tell you, plus it’ll drive Arthur crazy if I stall for a little bit.” You forced a chuckle to make it more realistic, but someone noticed even though you didn’t notice them.

“Fine um, Lukas fell down the stairs?” Though you weren’t honestly surprised by Matthias’ guess it was still a mean guess, but in his defense the Nordic man ended up choking him with his tie a lot.

“That’s just mean, no he didn’t fall down the stairs and no one is hurt so don’t try and imagine anything like that.” You shook your head and had a slight grin at the Dane while he seemed to start thinking some more.

“oh! Do they need us to help them?” Tino tried to take his own little guess now that he was done giggling about whatever him and- you guess- Berwald were talking about. It was a better answer than Lukas falling down the stairs.

“Sort of I’m not really sure if you can say they exactly need help with anything.” It was kind of help they couldn’t do the spell without them sense it involved everyone- well everyone that was a doll. You looked at Matthias who was ready for his next guess by now, this was a bit childish, but you wanted a reason for taking so long if they asked.

“Did they blow something else up?” Another more violent guess from the man with the weird hair, that earlier mess up must have jogged his head or something like that, maybe he was normally just this bad at guessing.

“I said no one got hurt!” You pushed his forehead slightly making him nearly fall backwards, but you were gentle. He still rubbed his forehead as if you had hurt him or something with that silly little action.

“We weren’t hurt when something blew up earlier so it could have happened!” Okay that was kind of a solid argument, but still someone could be hurt if that happened again they might have just gotten lucky the other time.

“Well no, nothing got blown up.” At least to your knowledge, there might have been a few little bubbles or something that nobody heard or cared about in the past hour, because that had happened a few times before. They were never serious and more of a pot boiling over or something simple like that.

“It’s d’n’.” You looked at Berwald who must have been a bit bored with the game or didn’t want to listen to the guesses from Matthias get any worse; however you were a bit sad that he actually guessed it right and cut the game of early. Your expression only faltered for a slight second, but you caught yourself and it didn’t look like anyone had noticed.

“Correct! They got a spell ready that might be able to get you guys back to normal.” You smiled at them and you saw Tino and Matthias’ faces light up in pure excitement they would be normal again, even Berwald had a slight smile on his face at the fact. Now that was the trigger to the worry- not the selfishness you had to push that away if you really cared about them. Even Berwald seemed happy for obvious reasons so now you were worried about how disappointed they might be if things went wrong.

“That’s being great! We can be being normal again!” Tino went to Berwald and even grabbed his hand pulling him forward excitedly; he wanted to rush up the stairs right now it seemed.

“And I can personally thank you for everything you’ve done for all of us.” Even though the idea should have been sweet, but the smirk on Matthias’ face proved other intentions, they have been five males trapped in doll forms for years, so could you honestly expect less. Especially from the flirt who liked to try and whistle at people to embarrass you partially.

“Whatever little man.” You rolled your eyes and messed up his hair once again earning a look from Matthias who had to fix his hair once again. “I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but please don’t give your hopes up… I don’t want to see you guys get hurt if it…” Your head had fallen a bit before you felt something touch your arm, looking over it was Tino.

“Hey don’t be worried about us, if it doesn’t work then that just means we get to live with you a little longer.” You looked at Matthias and smiled slightly before you picked them up letting them get situated before you took them upstairs and too the attic where Arthur had been pacing and ready to shoot down the stairs.

“Where were you?!” Arthur looked ready to take off your head, you did the same thing as earlier and chuckled at him.

“I was playing the guessing game with these three to bother you. I think everyone’s ready though to try and see if it really does work.” Arthur looked slightly offended that you accused his- and Lukas’- spell not working. You went to where Lukas and Emil were standing in some circle and set the last three down shooting a worried look before going to stand off to the side. That’s when it started.

“I’ll show you how well it works…. Take back time and turn the clock, I think this curse has had time enough, let go its claim and take its strength, go back before it was even made!” While he was talking a light started glowing that nearly blinded you, but you watched looking at them just to see what happened. Something was definitely going on and they started to shift and change… it…
Here's 10! So did it work?
